Gitmo Detainees To Go to Illinois Prison
Today the Obama administration is expected to announce that Guantanamo Bay detainees will be transferred to Thompson Correctional Facility in Illinois. Gov. Patrick J. Quinn of Illinois and the state’s senior senator, Richard J. Durbin have been enthusiastic about the plans, as they believe utilizing the prison will bring jobs to a poor portion of the state.

From Guantanamo to Illinois
The Obama administration is considering buying the nearly empty Western Illinois prison – Thompson Correctional Center – to house inmates from Guantanamo prison in Cuba. This is part of a larger effort on the part of the Obama administration to close down Guantanamo Bay Prison. Many GOP congressman object to this proposal because they believe this will increase the risk of a terrorism attack on American soil.
