‘Felony Franks’- Guilty or Not Guilty?

This Wall Street Journal article, written by Julie Jargon, explores recent controversy that has struck up in the West Side of Chicago because a local hot dog stand owner, James Andrews, hires ex-convicts as employees.  The controversy is centered around the name of the stand – “Felony Franks” – as well as the titles of the orders, and the catch lines that are used by the servers.  Some people in Chicago believe that the stand is exploiting the employees rather than helping them fit back into the norms of society.  Others view the stand as a positive way to keep former inmates off the streets and provide for their families.

Veterans Behind Bars

Today there are more and more United States military veterans who are ending up in prison or jail after committing crimes following their release from the military. Many attribute this rise in veterans behind bars to the rise in the number of veterans returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan with post traumatic stress disorder.
