Michael Eric Dyson – Letter to Everett

In this very personal and heartfelt letter, Michael Eric Dyson (professor of sociology at Georgetown, author of over 15 books, radio host, and Minister) writes to his brother Everett, who is currently serving a life sentence in prison, about his concerns for the future of black men in America.  He discusses, in particular, the impact of prison on the black community as well as the social factors that have contributed to the overwhelming numbers of black men in prison.  The letter retraces childhood memories of the two brothers, their different spiritual paths, as well as their complex and at times tumultuous relationship with their father. The letter is both an emotional and academic offering between two brothers. Take a look.
